President Ollanta Humala inaugurated construction of 26 km of the La Encañada-Celendín road
The President of the Republic of Peru Ollanta Humala, with the Vice Minister of Transportation, Carmelo Zaira, and representatives of Consorcio Vial La Encañada, engineers Humberto Rozas and Julio Yepez, inaugurated the completion of construction works for “rehabilitation and improvement of the Cajamarca-Celendín-Balsas road, specifically, Section II, from km 26+000 to km 52+000.
The road section inaugurated today at Quinuamayo, La Encañada, has an asphalt carpet thickness of 6.35 cm and an average width of 7.50 m. This work will entail a major benefit for the Cajamarca population, as carriers will now cover the La Encañada-Celendín stretch in just one hour and a half, which previously took four hours.
This work required a total investment of S/. 77,868,639.04 nuevos soles and was completed in 546 days, the time agreed in the contract between CVE (consisting of the firms Ingenieros Civiles y Contratistas Generales S.A and T&T S.A.C) and Provías Nacional of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
Thanks to this works, the number of automobiles that went through this section increased from 71 to 161 a day, which points to a furthering of the development of the Cajamarca Region.
It should be noted that these 26 km already completed will enter the maintenance stage to ensure durability. ICCGSA will be in charge of conservation works, as provided in the contract between the contractor company with Provias Nacional for maintenance of the Cajamarca - Celendín - Balsas - Dv. Chachapoyas - Chachapoyas y Dv. Chachapoyas - Cocahuayco - Pedro Ruiz road corridor.
