Huánuco-La Unión Section affected by landslide and geological fault activation
ICCGSA reports that the Huánuco-La Unión Section, specifically at km 340, has been severely affected by a major landslide that damaged the platform and weakened the upper embankments of the road, for which reason vehicle traffic has been restricted.
The firm ICCGSA has deployed its removal and carriage equipment, such as dump trucks, front loaders, bulldozers and backhoe loaders, to respond to the emergency and enable access to carriers traveling along this road. Restricted vehicle passing from Friday, July 4, is expected.
The firm has stated that it is making all necessary efforts to complete recovery works in time, as the area where the geological fault is located is prone to landslides to the heavy rains that occurred during the last rainy season. ICCGSA reports that road rehabilitation works are being currently assessed by Provías representatives, as these involve exceptional agreements with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
It should be noted that the engineers in charge of maintenance of this road have started talks with Tingo Chico authorities to explain them the extent of the damages to the road and the emergency situation currently faced.
Lastly, the firm asks carriers for their understanding during the time when recovery works are being conducted on the section affected by natural causes.
